ABOUT
I’m Margaret Cowdrey, owner and bubbly facilitator of Hummingbird Hamper. I am a native Montanan that had dreams to leave, but was never able to pull myself away from the beauty and people here. I currently split my time between Bozeman and Philipsburg with my family and pets. I enjoy all that Montana has to offer and hope to always bring joy to the others I see out in the wild or just passing by.
How did I get where I am? Honestly, a little despair, hope and a prayer. I walked into Laundry Liberator in Bozeman in June of 2024 praying I wouldn’t cry. I hadn’t gone into a job interview in almost 10 years and certainly never walked in unannounced and asked for a job out of the blue, let alone in a field that my knowledge only extended as far as my own washer, dryer, and hanging rack. Monica and Sarah took me under their wings and taught me enough to be able to go in for an early shift alone to accommodate homeschooling and other responsibilities. As my time as a Laundry Superhero continued, I realized how much I love the whole process! Fast forward to fall of 2025 when my husband asked me when I was going to open my own laundry service in Philipsburg. It had never crossed my mind to open my own, let alone that I could do so. Having encouragement, faith, and generous help from my husband, children, family members, Monica, and Sarah has led me to type this About page for you to read.

~I’ve never weighed my linens before. How do I estimate how much I have?
Great question! All linens weigh differently depending on fabric and size. Click here for an average weight of each item and an estimator. * Please note these approximate pounds are based on my research over the internet, combined with weighing of my own personal linens.
~Is my laundry weighed prior to being washed?
No, the weight is calculated after washing, drying, and folding. You are not paying for any dirt!
~I do not want to have scented linens. Are scents used or can I send my own detergent?
Hummingbird Hamper is a scent free facility. No need to send your own.
~Can I drop off weekly? If so, is it okay that the amount changes?
Absolutely. There is a $30 minimum.
~Can I come in and do my own laundry?
No, this is not a public laundromat. I’d be happy to give you a tour if desired and walk you through my process.
~What is fold only?
Do you have a bag of rags and towels that are clean, just never get folded. I fold them for you. They will come back organized by type and color.
~My horse blankets are very dirty! Do I need to hose them off before bringing them in?
Nope. Bring them in as is.
~I have a rug. Can you wash it?
Usually yes. There is a small chance my washer is not large enough, but bring it in and let’s try!
~My restaurant tablecloths, napkins, kitchen rags, and aprons are overwhelming. Do you provide service for these items?
Sure do! Bring on the candle wax, wine and grease stains, and general kitchen mess.
~Do you have a pick up service?
Currently there is only a drop off location or an arranged meeting place in Philipsburg or Anaconda. Please call to schedule.
~Do you wash clothes? I don’t see pricing.
No, Hummingbird Hamper does not process clothes orders. However, I’m happy to give you some tips that really helped me at home with my family of four and pushing through what seemed like the weekly fight and dreaded humongous pile on top of my bed. Hummingbird Hamper does process residential linens: comforters, sheets, towels, rags, mops, etc.
